Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. As a person with Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family did this naturally. Maureen was welcomed into the sanctity of family on August 17, 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb in Dublin), Ireland. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake of "The Shamrock Rovers," an eminent Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons came second in a household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely adept at it. The passion for sports was matched by a natural talent for performance. Her winning of almost every Feis prizes for her own country's drama and theatre performances is a testimony to the fact that she was a natural performer. When she turned 14, she was accepted to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater and operatic singing.
